WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 9, 2022) – The Pet Food Institute (PFI), whose members make the vast majority of dog and cat food and treat products in the United States, commends the White House nomination of Doug McKalip as chief agricultural negotiator at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.

“Supply chain issues have been a source of difficulty for U.S. pet food makers and have only been exasperated by the war in Ukraine,” said PFI president and CEO Dana Brooks. “Doug’s three-decade career at the U.S. Department of Agriculture makes him the ideal person to fill this critical role and protect the interests of farmers. We urge the Senate to confirm him quickly.”
