PFI Thanks Reps. Angie Craig and Roger Marshall for Leadership

WASHINGTON – Representatives Angie Craig (D-MN-2) and Roger Marshall (R-KS-1) earlier today launched the Congressional Pet Caucus, marking a celebratory day for the Pet Food Institute (PFI). As the national trade association for U.S. pet food makers, PFI worked with the Congressional offices on the development of this bipartisan caucus, which will focus on issues relevant to dog and cat nutrition and be a Congressional vehicle to recognize the value pets bring to our lives.

“We look forward to working with Congress to ensure there is legislative attention given to a variety of pet issues, from health and nutrition to the benefits of having a pet in our everyday lives,” said Dana Brooks, PFI President and CEO. “PFI thanks Representatives Craig and Marshall for their support of the Congressional Pet Caucus and we are excited to help them showcase the unique role of pets in our country.”

Pet ownership and pet care affect the majority of Americans. Research indicates that more than two out of three U.S. households have a pet[1] and a growing body of research shows that pets bring many benefits to us both physically and emotionally[2]. With up to 180 million bowls to fill every day[3], PFI members have a presence in 32 states and employ nearly 25,000 people in support of making safe, nutritionally sound dog and cat food.

Statements from Representatives Craig and Marshall are available online. For more information about PFI and U.S. pet food makers, visit www.petfoodinstitute.org.
