The Pet Food Institute (PFI), whose members make the vast majority of dog and cat food and treats in the United States, has promoted Savonne Caughey to vice president of government affairs and advocacy.

Caughey, who has been with PFI for more than three years, will serve as a key advisor on PFI’s policy team, responsible for leading strategic planning and policy advocacy with government officials and DC-based stakeholders. She will continue directing state legislative and policy-focused activities and overseeing PFI’s reputation management efforts among state governments and organizations. Caughey earned a bachelor’s degree in justice and political science from American University’s School of Public Affairs.

“Savonne’s promotion is well-deserved and is in recognition of her leadership and strategic work over the last three years for PFI’s members, staff and the entire pet food industry,” said Dana Brooks, PFI’s president & CEO.
